Torch Relay Festivities Include Broomball in BC

January 26 2010 . Armstrong Spallumcheen were pleased to be recognized as a 2010 Torch Relay Route Community. In our community, we held a great celebration – including activities, sports, food, entertainment and fun! Part of the event was a "Passport" where those attending tried different activities, and received a "stamp" for participating. The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with local RCMP and the Mounted Police Foundation, organized broomball. Great fun was had by all – including the odd torchbearer or two, who took time to play with local youth. Thanks to the Canadian Broomball Association and BC Broomball Society for supplying our event with the equipment. It started some great conversations with local residents who have played – who knows- with the support of the BC Broomball Society, and renewed interest; maybe Broomball will become part of our Parks and Recreation program.
