The next Northern Broomball Cup will be in Yellowknife in 2011.

We were welcomed with open arms in Whitehorse and I think most were shocked to see us travel there. Truthfully, we were too. We wouldn't have been able to participate if it wasn't for the genourosity of First Air and NWT Broomball who contributed to our travel costs, making it affordable. In May I won a trip for 10 anywhere First Air Flies in the Western Arctic and thought this would be a great opportunity to test out some new competition, we were impressed with the sportsmanship and skill level we played against...and maybe a little surprised.

It was also nice to go there ahead of time and stay longer to enjoy the area. We visited the Takhini Hot Springs a few times, cross country skiied, played Ultimate frisbee in their Canada Games center, toured the Yukon Brewery as well as many fine local establishments. We did leave our mark there in one of the local pubs, Flippers, where a Swamp Donkey's jersey has found a new home.

I've attached a few pictures that I took, but here's a link to a photo album on Flickr from a girl that was taking pictures during the tournament. The swamp donkeys are in green and I can help identify anyone in the pictures, if you forward me the ones you are interested in. She just asks that her name be identified as the photographer:

I have CC'd Val Pond with Yellowknife Mixed Broomball and Jan Vallillee, president of NWT Broomball.
