Youth Program in Newfoundland/Labrador

Coaches on left Chanda Ward and Keith Fitzpatrick, coaches on the right, Kathy Cull, Greg Richards and Sarah Ward. Manager Lavinia Crisby receiving donation from Norman Cull, funds from the Wallace Cull Broomball tournment.
He was a committed broomball coach and organizer of the sport who passed away suddenly at a very young age. Mr. Cull, spokesman for the Cull family donated $1400+ to our league that was raised during the tournament. We have also secured $1000. from the Northern Wellness Coalition to buy equipment that will allow children to try our sport.
I was a very dedicted fan as a teenager, but never played.."how could I get this to work" I wondered. I knew the junior broomball was very active so I asked some of the players to coach for me. They were all for it....I contacted Maddie Ollerhead to ask about gear and her support was wonderful. Right away she set up to have BF2 trainnig and a dozen or so of us took it. From there I got very talented and dedicated coaches. From there we took off.

Broomball Canada sends congratulations on the success of building a youth broomball program in the Newfoundland/Labrador area. The following article and pictures were sent by "Broomball Mom" Lavinia Crisby.
As a Mom I wanted my son Connor to enjoy a winter sport and I knew how much he enjoyed ball hockey during the summer. He didn't enjoy skating so hockey was a challenge... I knew broomball could work.

Tim Hortons donated jerseys to the team and this is their first time supporting broomball accross Canada!
The jerseys hab the logo we had from the orginal Raiders team coached by Mr. Wallace Cull amdhis name is on every jersey as well. The first year we had about 12 kids on a regular basis, this year it has doubled and with the exposure at the junior provincials we expect it to grow again next year. It worked for my son Connor--he loves it and so does everyone who has come to try. We will continue to grow and we will make it to the nationals!

| We are committed to doing whatever it takes to make broomball big in our area again! |
